Employers' experiences of involvement in Role Redesign and Skills Utilisation Networks

The research was aimed at informing future Skills for Health (SfH) developments in role re-design and support networks. Surveys and interviews were conducted to investigate employers’ experiences of involvement in Role Redesign and Skills Utilisation Networks. The surveys will serve as baselines against which SfH will then use to assess their progress in two areas of work. One workstream included delivering 15 new community support roles utilising SfH’s transferable role methodology plus associated learning support. In a second workstream SfH planned to introduce new (or further develop existing) Skills Utilisation Networks to support employers in making better utilisation of skills in the sector and offer network members the opportunity to learn about workforce re-design and spread good practice to further improve quality and performance. The developments, along with the baseline research being undertaken by IES, were funded through the Employers Investment Fund.
