Evaluating the Benefits of the Radiography Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme
The Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme or ISAS is the outcome of a development project jointly undertaken by Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) over the period from 2006 and 2008, during which a model imaging services accreditation process was developed. At the centre of this work was the establishment of a set of standards for accreditation, with accompanying performance criteria and underpinning guidance. Both NHS and independent providers are covered by the scheme, initially trialed by 12 sites. The University of Hertfordshire and IES are jointly evaluating the benefits and costs of the scheme by working with a sample of the pilot sites as they work towards accreditation.
