Evaluation of an Occupational Health Helpline for SMEs

The Occupational Health helpline for small and micro enterprises (SMEs) is one of a number of initiatives being tested that address issues raised in Dame Carol Black's review 'Working for a Healthier Tomorrow’. Actions are being taken at the level of individuals, healthcare professionals and employers. In the review, SMEs were specifically mentioned as needing particular support. The helpline will provide general occupational health advice, although the focus of the service will be the mental health and well-being of staff. IES is well placed to evaluate the OH helpline pilot, having already conducted a number of studies on workplace health and well-being, and occupational health services and initiatives.
