Evaluation of the Right to Request Time to Train
Employees in organisations with at least 250 employees have a statutory right to request time off work to undertake training. In 2011 it was decided, after consultation, not to extend the right to all employees but to review the decision in 2015, based on evidence concerning the effectiveness of the policy over time.
BIS commissioned IES to conduct a short evaluation of the right to request time to train policy, and on the impact of its potential expansion to cover employees of small and medium-sized enterprises.
