What Works in Delivering Improved Health and Safety Outcomes?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) commissioned a comprehensive assessment of what approaches work best to deliver HSE policies and objectives. This project also investigated how HSE programmes are influenced by research and how decision-making processes function in relation to research. It involved a thorough literature review of both HSE contract research reports, academic literature and comparative analysis of the impact of international bodies with a similar remit, and interviews with key HSE personnel to investigate their perceptions of research and decision-making processes about design and delivery of HSE interventions. Outcomes included a report and dissemination/discussion of implications with key HSE staff to inform the commissioning and evaluation of HSE activities.
