Work to inform the development of the new Leadership College

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service wished to conduct an audit of the previous and current leadership initiatives that had been achieved in the sector, with the intention that the audit would inform an impact assessment of initiatives to be conducted by LSIS.

This piece of research consisted of:

  • an initial literature scan to provide information on leadership development from LSIS, other public leadership centres and other stakeholder organisations
  • a review of evaluation evidence and other literature from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the wider public sector
  • evidence on the behaviour of private firms regarding in house leadership centres.

These desk reviews were supplemented by consultation with relevant stakeholders.
