Response of Employers to an Ageing Workforce
IES, in partnership with the Policy Studies Institute, carried out a study of employers' practices in response to workforce ageing, for the Nuffield Foundation. The research explored the range of flexible working options on offer, and examine the impact of recent legislative changes allowing people to request to continue working after normal retirement age. It aimed to draw out the day-to-day issues faced by line managers and the challenges presented for different sectors and sizes of employer, rather than simply focussing on examples of best practice.
