Masterclass workshops: Modernisation of reward strategies

Objectives

The aim is to:

  • recognise the strategic possibilities of reward
  • understand the right process to design and implement change
  • learn about the different pay and non-pay options
  • consider ways of evaluating whether the change has been successful

Style

This will be in a mixed format: formal presentation followed by discussion on each of the items.

Content

  • linking reward strategy with business strategy, weighing up the impact of internal and external drivers
  • a review of base pay structures, pay progression methods (including performance related pay, skills based pay and competency based pay), variable pay (individual, team and corporate) and non-financial recognition schemes
      • the advantages and disadvantages of each of these approaches
      • a similar review of ranking and rating methodology, their pluses and minuses
      • examination of a model for introducing a new approach to remuneration, including critically how/when to include stakeholder participation
      • methods to evaluate success from a strategic and stakeholder perspective
