Masterclass workshops: Modernisation of reward strategies
Objectives
The aim is to:
- recognise the strategic possibilities of reward
- understand the right process to design and implement change
- learn about the different pay and non-pay options
- consider ways of evaluating whether the change has been successful
Style
This will be in a mixed format: formal presentation followed by discussion on each of the items.
Content
- linking reward strategy with business strategy, weighing up the impact of internal and external drivers
- a review of base pay structures, pay progression methods (including performance related pay, skills based pay and competency based pay), variable pay (individual, team and corporate) and non-financial recognition schemes
- the advantages and disadvantages of each of these approaches
- a similar review of ranking and rating methodology, their pluses and minuses
- examination of a model for introducing a new approach to remuneration, including critically how/when to include stakeholder participation
- methods to evaluate success from a strategic and stakeholder perspective
