Knowledge Knibbles: Organisational Values

Organisational Values have hit the headlines over recent years, with companies and senior executives being exposed as not operating in line with their stated values. Many organisations feel they should have a set of values to guide behaviours and underpin ethical business, but are concerned that these could end up as a list statements that do not mean anything to employees, and are not internalised in systems and processes. Others have opted out, on the basis that their overall strategic direction and business principles are enough of a guide.

This session is an opportunity to hear about the evidence around organisational values and the different ways of introducing and using them, debate their usefulness, and discuss the best ways of ensuring they have some meaning for employees.

What you will get

  • an understanding of the debates around 'organisational values' and their alternatives
  • a review of the research
  • an appreciation of the different ways in which values might be defined, agreed, refreshed, and communicated
